Hailing from the UK, Executive Chef Steve Gardiner and his wife Kate, joined our kitchen team in 2007 and since then have created thousands of consistently decadent dishes for our patrons. Working in kitchens in France, England, Denmark, Cyprus, Australia and of course New Zealand, ignited a passion for fusion dishes show-casing different flavours from around the world. We have Steve to thank for being the MasterMind behind all of our favourite dishes and our ever-changing seasonal menus.
His skills have been recognised internationally and nationally. Prior to joining us at Terra Viva, Steve had won 3 Beef and Lamb gold plates and there are now two more gold plates hanging in our entry way thanks to Steve's efforts. His passion for all things foodie related was also the driving force behind Terra Viva being voted in as winner of the People's Choice Award for Christchurch in the 2015 Café of the Year Awards.

Leading our team is Vicky our cafe manager, she has been working with us since 2011. Vicky graduated with a Diploma of Culinary Arts in 2002 and has worked in Christchurch restaurants as a chef/sous chef for 8 years. Vicky transitioned from kitchen to the front of house which has brought a working knowledge of running both sides of the business, this helps set the standard for service and in turn has made us one big team. Vicky is proud to lead our fabulous team of 14 wait staff.
