Winter is upon us – Wooly coats, gloves, scarves, chapstick and starting your car 10 minutes before you leave the house. Using recyclable bottles of warm water so you can see out through your windscreen – or the all-important Eftpos cards to scrape the ice away. Lately, wondering if we need to put a set of oars in the car so we can paddle home. In all seriousness though, we hope that everyone is safe and warm this winter.

We have a few things going on in August - let me tell you all about them!!

We have a delicious new Hot Chocolate powder by KOKO which brings a nice balance of premium dark chocolate and a slight sweetness …. It is Gluten and Dairy Free which means you can enjoy it with soy or almond milk if you so desire.

We have a new baker – Katelyn Gregson – Katelyn has been a chef for Terra Viva Café for more than two years, she knows the café very well. Her creativity and passion for delicious baked goodies has led her to a position working with our other extremely talented baker Junko Inoue, who has also been a member of Terra Viva Café for four years. Both are working very hard to bake extra muffins and scones for our busy mornings and creating delicious new cakes, slices, patisseries and savoury treats. I’m in heaven – here are a few photos of their products:

Tamarillo and Chocolate Cake, Banana and Chocolate Decadence, Gluten Free Raspberry Cheesecake Dome, Banana Cake and Cheesy Garlic Loaves with Pumpkin Puree and Caramelised Onion.

We have a new Front of House Team Leader – who will be working closely with Vicky, the café Manager. His name is Rob Ollis. Rob is such a joy to have on our team, he is originally from Newquay Cornwall, he has a wife called Alycia and a baby boy called Olly, they live in Rangiora. Rob has been in hospitality for over 10 years in numerous places around Christchurch, he is absolutely loving his position at Terra Viva and getting to know all of our customers and staff.

Lin our chef who has been with Terra Viva Café forever has come back from China after being away for 8 months. He returns to us on the 14th of August, we have really missed him.

We are also delighted to welcome back Kate Gardiner, executive chef Steve Gardeners wife, who has come back as a part time chef after having baby number 5. Gosh!!! 5? …. Enough said.

We have Black Estate Rose and Damsteep Pinot Noir on board that goes wonderfully with our delicious platter, especially our famous Pate. The Three Boys range is now available here as well, how lucky are we.

Promos – From the 3rd August 2017 – 17th August 2017 the Garden Centre are giving away a voucher for a free slice from the café with every fruit tree purchased.

It is Strawberry month running throughout August – with every purchase of the Terra Viva Smoothie Bowl (from our menu) or Mixed Berry Smoothie (drink) or a Rhubarb and Strawberry Pastry (from our cabinet) you will receive a voucher when paying to take through to the Garden Centre and receive a free strawberry plant – now is the time to get your fruit trees in the ground.
